About this episode

I remember going to therapy for the first time after realizing I needed to get help working through a traumatic event with my daughter.

I had learned about a therapy called EMDR, and thought even though I wasn't in the military, it might be able to help me. NEWSFLASH.... there are actually a lot of people with PTSD, and it is not just from being in the military.

Both men and women have PTSD from rape, sexual assault, childhood neglect, combat, physical attacks, childbirth and abuse.  PTSD is short for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, which is a disorder in which a person has difficulty recovering after experiencing or witnessing a terrifying event. One thing with PTSD is that you can have triggers, and that is why we are talking more about it on the podcast today.  If you want to hear our story you can read it HERE and HERE!

I hope you know you are not alone. If something has happened to you please make sure to reach out to someone you trust, and get the help you need. There is no shame in getting help!
